Phnom Sampov is the popular historical and tourist site in Battambang Province located to the southwest of Battambang Town and is about 13.73km from Battambang Provincial Hall along the national Road No. 57 to Pailin Province.
Visitors can travel safely to the tourist destination on National Road No.57 by motorbike or cars. It is based in Phnom Sampov Khang Keut and Phnom Sampov Khang Lech, Phnom Samnanh villages, Phnom Sampov Commune, Banan District. Because around It, there are more people living and built one pagoda between Mountain and National Road No. 57and Its name is Wat Phnom Sampovand many Monks went up to the top of It cleaned and made religeon there .
From that day, many people continue to prepared and build other pagoda, temple and caves as cave Pkar Sla , Kiriroom , cave lakhon ,stany , Chinese and Vietnam church , Temple of Mr. old man Yak, Arun Nary pagoda and shrine of wife of late president Lon Nol .
Phnom Sampov Mountain is told of one of the Khmer folk stories: “King Reachkol and Neang Romsi Sak” which is also related to Phnom Kropeu (Crocodile Mountain) ( Before death , Crocodile , ATON , just breathed big air and knocked his tail , then became both pools name nose Crocodile pool and tail Crocodilepool ) , Phnom Rumsai Sak(let-down-the-hair Mountain) Phnom Trung Moan Trung Tia (Hen and Duck cage Mountain) and many songs related to the mountain were written during the 1960s. There are several caves on the mountain such as Laang Andoung Preng… Unfortunately some of the caves were used as killing fields during the Pol Pot regime.
